We gave David Angelo of David & Goliath an ultimatum: pay up if you ever want to see your precious davidandgoliath.com. Since his agency's inception, Mr. Angelo has coveted the URL. When Slingshot switched to slingshot.com, we decided to have some fun.
We sent him daily ransom videos featuring my Art Director partner and I as half-wit hostage takers, torturing the URL with everything from a familiar hamster to a piping hot pan of pain.
(I'm the one in the panda mask)
The final video revealed our true identities and intention to raise money for Slingshot's charitable foundation.
In the end, Mr. Angelo ponied up the cash and saved his beloved URL. The panda mask was returned to its rightful place in my 9-year old daughter's closet.
@DEFYyourGOLIATH How philosophical. Zen Panda says, "The price just went up." #namaste #URLransom pic.twitter.com/iijzk4nx8c

@DEFYyourGOLIATH We prefer you shower us with cash. #URLransom

.@urlransom A lasagna beating won’t distract us from the real issue, which is either hoarding URLs or a hatred of carbs. #spreadlovenotsauce

@DEFYyourGOLIATH Actually, the hip-hop hamster quite enjoyed those saucy carbs. #lovethecarbs pic.twitter.com/g7FDRqtVHx

.@urlransom Interesting... So you care enough to feed one of our hamsters. Perhaps you have a heart after all. #LetsTalk - DA

@DEFYyourGOLIATH That lasagna wasn't free, it's included in the ransom.

"KUDOS TO SLINGSHOT FOR COMING UP WITH A CREATIVE, INVENTIVE AND VERY FUNNY WAY TO GET OUR ATTENTION. AFTER 17 YEARS, WE CAN AT LAST REUNITE WITH OUR BELOVED URL."
